Birthday dinner for my dad?
My dad’s birthday is coming up next month, and I’ll be in Asia. He passed away last year.
My uncle and aunt suggested we get Korean tofu tomorrow or the day after, trying to make plans to make sure my cousin and I both went. This is especially since I’ll be gone next month and it would start to get warmer by next month.
At first, I thought they might be announcing something to me, like perhaps them moving out. I’m used to people making less than pleasant announcements after tricking me to a meal (hint: my mom took me to a brunch to tell me she was switching me to a different school, which I didn’t care about, but the deception made it feel weird/off/bad).
But then I realized the note about me being gone all of April, the ask while my cousin was there, indicating she might not be in the know, which she would be before me.
And I deduced that perhaps it’s for my dad, which then is actually very sweet.
I miss him, and I’m sure my uncle does too. They were the closest amongst their siblings.
