I was almost born in Brazil

Just had dumplings with my uncle at home, and he told me some family history.

In 1983 Jan to June time, it was just him and the 4th brother who were selling the family business, and they’d eat lunch together everyday — dumplings, because that’s all they knew how to cook. And at night, they’d have dinner with their significant others.

My dad had already moved to the US with his other 2 sisters (sister 8 and 10) in Jan 1983. He was involved with the family business too, in operations, but they didn’t need that many people to wrap things up.

My grandpa had applied to move the family to Brazil previously, but the application failed. He then tried Uruguay and Paraguay, but then one of his daughters got US citizenship, and that qualified the family to move over.

1978, grandpa moved over first. He was in his 70s.

The discussion for Brazil was shared with the rest of the family back then when my uncle was a kid.

Really shows how forward thinking my grandpa was, how proactive, and how much thought he put into all this.
