Phew, it’s been a tiring day back at work after being on vacation 4/3–21!

I think it’s about time to finally sit down and reflect.

Traveling has been exhausting — physically. My body is not cut out for travel. I knew this already, but this trip really cemented key weaknesses:

  1. Weak gut: I had half a milk tea in Taiwan, and that took me out for 4 days, having diarrhea and an inflamed GI tract. I prayed on the last night for things to turn, and thank God they finally did by day 5, just in time for Korea part of the trip. Fucking sucked, but thankful it turned around. Every trip, this happens, and it was 2 days last year, so it’s getting worse. Ended up just on BRAT diet a lot, and only being selective with unhealthy foods.
  2. Motion sickness: boats are the worst. Plane, car, and train can be bad too, but it’s been more manageable, just a pain. This makes it especially harder traveling with people.
  3. Sensitivity to alcohol: Got so nauseous after just one night out, almost throwing up on an Uber too.
  4. Sleeping late/needing rest: I had to cancel some early morning stuff because I found myself often sleeping later and later, and sleeping in to get enough rest.

I lost a lot of weight because of my stomach issues. Even at age 35, I’m this sensitive and even at death’s door from 4 days of almost no eating. This is certainly very poor health and a stark reminder to focus more on my health and just be more domestic, with short travels.

Ideal travel is probably like 10 day trips at most.

After getting back, I watched a video about the collapse of South Korea, mostly driven by declining birth rate. After chatting with GPT a bit, it reminded me that I’m in tight closing window for dating.

Passing 30 has already closed off a certain “youthful” dating window. And once I hit 40, it’ll really be much more closed off.

I still do see gays in their 40s dating and such, but it will certainly be harder.
