Quitting work only if you have loved ones to spend time with

1 min readOct 4, 2025

I was just watching this woman who saved $1.7M in net worth after making $390K and quit her job for a mini retirement of 1.5 years in Switzerland at age 36 last year. Video: https://youtu.be/BmAZEoAFhPk?si=7gAI98CxYwojeS1U

It’s tempting because for me, I turn 36 soon too, was also bringing in similar numbers for a short while, and am worth $2.3M now, but only if you include real estate. $1.1M if excluding.

I’m basically in a similar situation.

But I don’t really have a partner like she does to spend all that time with. And that was sort of her point: enjoying the beauty of life with your loved ones.

I guess I’d love to do that with a loved one, but I don’t really have that.

I’m dating, but it’s been tricky. I’m starting to feel more confident, and I also starting to overextend a bit.

I have been seeing one person for 1.5 months. And I just met another that I’ll be going on a date with officially. It’s scary to have juggle two potentials. And often, I end up just ending both when I have two. But we’ll see how it goes. I’m not official or exclusive with anyone, so relax. lol.
