What American leaders aren’t getting amid George Floyd protests and riots

Mayors, governors, and other officials are denouncing violent riots but vocally supporting the right to protest, but what they aren’t getting is that the people want change.

The reason there is violence is that there is never any actual change. If the next thing that comes our of our leaders’ mouths is not exactly HOW things will CHANGE, the violence will continue.

People do not feel heard.

People do not feel seen.

People do not believe there will be change.

So leaders, stop talking about EVERYTHING else you’re talking about and explain to us exactly how you are going to act NOW TODAY to upend a institutional systemic racism in our police force. What are you going to do? That’s what we need to here if there is going to be an end to the violence.

There was a time for peaceful protest. And it didn’t change anything. Nobody is willing to wait any longer. The change has to happen today, or society will tear itself apart.
